OriEnsemble, a musical group dedicated to the research and study of the Middle Eastern repertoire, particularly the Arab-Palestinian tradition, was founded as part of the “Musicatoio” project – a music-based social workshop – in Montespertoli (Florence), and specifically within the context of the “Music and Resilience” project that Prima Materia has been developing since 2012 alongside the Palestinian refugee population in Lebanon.
The group’s composition, which brings together young and not-so-young musicians, students, amateurs and professionals, reflects the philosophy of “community music”, a socio-cultural model for a world in which everyone is listened to, respected and valued.
